Alzheimer’s disease affects 110,000 people over the age of 65 in Washington state, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Many resources, ranging from support groups to care facilities, exist for Alzheimer’s and dementia care in Bellingham and Whatcom County.
Here are some places with memory-care capacity in Whatcom:

Support groups also exist for caregivers of those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

▪ Project Lifesaver is another tool adopted by Dementia Support Northwest, intended to make caring for people with memory loss easier. The project uses radio signals and bracelets to track the location of the wearer whenever possible, decreasing the chances of people with Alzheimer’s or dementia being lost for extended and life-threatening amounts of time.
