Birds are naturally musical, but some decide to take their innate talent to the next level. This Ring-Necked Parrot loves to sing so much that she's getting lessons. In the clip, she shoots for a five-note run while Mom explains the exercise. "POV: Your opera bird is learning how to sing 5 notes in a row."

The caption sums up the exchange perfectly: "Used to only be 3. She's trying so hard. Most of this video was of her actively listening, thinking for a bit, then doing a little sing. I have no doubt she will get it, but gosh, she's so cute when she learns." We have so much confidence that she'll nail it next time.

@pdx.jax gave her an A for effort, "She's trying so hard! And doing so good because she has an awesome mama to teach her!" Mom followed up with some more detes, "She asks every day to do singing training. I'm always delighted to! Even when we are doing flying training, she will often just look at me like, 'nah,' and she will sing instead."

"Opera lessons with a bird 101," @Moon_knight named the class. We'd take it. Finally, @Fatima got perfectly into this birdie's head, "Food, music, sing, mama. Her only cute thoughts." She can't stop the music!

How To Teach Your Parrot To Sing

Many birds are born loving to chirp, but it takes some work to get them to sing more adeptly. Just as you would teach your little flyer to talk, you can hone her vocal performance with practice. Lafeber Company vets explain why these birds are unique: "Parrots are special not only because they are vocal learners, but also because they are open-ended vocal learners, able to learn new utterances their entire lives." Many birds know their specific call, but Parrots can keep picking up new ones, and you can teach them.

These guys learn through mimicking, and repetition is key. In the video, we hear Mom talking to the bird and demonstrating the musical phrase, so the Parrot can copy her. That helps them understand what they're supposed to be doing. As with all things, practice also improves ability, and we suspect this pretty girl will be crooning her five notes any minute.
