Parisians Form Human Chain to Rescue Stranded Dog From the Seine

Paris, France, is known as the City of Love because of its stunning scenery and romantic atmosphere. However, a group of strangers gave the city's name new meaning on May 8 after banding together to rescue a stranded dog from the Seine. It's unclear how the dog became stuck in the river in the 13th arrondissement, but the emotional animal rescue proved there are plenty of kind people left in the world.

At least a dozen people and several dogs gathered at the riverbank after the black dog started barking for help. It took just a few minutes for the resourceful group to find a way to rescue the terrified pup. A video of the rescue quickly went viral on social media, with viewers praising the kind strangers as heroes.

The poor dog looked and sounded so scared as the crowd gathered. Even once brave people began sliding into the river, the pup was hesitant to break away from the wall. Luckily, the petrified pooch was able to swim to where their rescuers waited, using the metal chain to assist them.

"The dog was so smart," commenter @karigogo_89 agreed. "He worked with them to save his own life." It can be difficult not to let fear override logic in stressful situations like this, but the dog's heroes were determined to help. With their encouragement and help from another furry friend, the stranded dog swam straight into their rescuer's arms.
