It may be the end of the road for Amazon Prime's The Boys, but the hit superhero series is going out with a bang. In a post on X, the show revealed that the season finale will air in Regal movie theaters on Tuesday, May 19. And it's not just any screening in a movie theater. The Boys' final blowout will screen in 4DX.

What Is 4DX Anyway?

If you're like me, you're wondering what 4DX means (other than a more expensive ticket). It's not 3D... and it's not IMAX. It's sort of an enhanced cross between the two.

According to AMC, the 4DX experience combines moving seats "with over 21 environmental effects-like wind, water, snow, vibration, and scent-synchronized perfectly to the action on screen." No word on if it'll feel like you're getting punched in the face during the action sequences.

Think of the old Honey, I Shrunk the Audienceat Disney World. It was a 3D movie where the chairs would vibrate, water would spray at you, and they made it feel like mice were crawling on your feet. 5-year-old me had to be escorted out of the theater screaming and crying, but the rest of my family found it enjoyable and entertaining.

The Boys finale will be like that - although hopefully with fewer screaming children.

Where to Watch 'The Boys' Finale in 4DX

The Boys series finale will screen in select Regal theaters at 9:30 p.m. on May 19. There will only be one showing, so this truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

A ticket in New York City costs $30 - steep, but sadly not much more expensive than a regular movie ticket these days.

Replies on X seemed pretty on board with the idea. Fans outside the U.S. even begged Amazon for an international theatrical release.
