Fans Watching ‘Euphoria' 3 Spot Strange Detail About Jacob Elordi Character

Viewers dissecting details from Euphoria's third season have zeroed in on a costly wardrobe choice worn by Jacob Elordi's character, Nate Jacobs-one that many fans say clashes with the character's repeated claims that he and his fiancée, played by Sydney Sweeney, are on a budget.

The moment went viral after a post shared to Threads by u/txuritxuritxu on April 13 paired a still of Elordi in character wearing a blue flannel shirt with a screenshot of the same item listed on a retail website as a Bottega Veneta piece, marked down to a still-eye-watering $6,800. The images were accompanied by the caption: "Someone who's constantly repeating his fiancée they're ‘on a budget' would never wear a $7k Bottega Veneta shirt to work in the dusty construction site."

The post struck a chord, amassing more than 16,000 likes and sparking a flood of commentary from viewers questioning the show's approach to costuming-particularly when portraying characters framed as cash-strapped or economically precarious.

At the center of the conversation is Nate, a character long defined by control, status, and self-image. Fans argued that the designer flannel undermines the show's attempts at realism.

"$7K for a flannel??" one viewer wrote, echoing a widely shared sentiment.

Another commenter contrasted Euphoria with earlier teen dramas, writing: "Fun fact: the show Skins made all theirs outfits from thrift shopping and the looks remain iconic today and were trend setters."

Others pointed out that Nate is not the only character whose wardrobe choices seem at odds with their circumstances.

One commenter noted: "I noticed that too how Rue couch surfing but got rent on her hoodie."

Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, has repeatedly been shown buried under debt within the series, yet is frequently styled in expensive, designer clothing.

Some viewers, however, offered a more character-driven interpretation. One lengthy comment argued that Nate's luxury wardrobe may actually reinforce the show's psychological portrait of him: "Hear me out-Nate's a narcissist, yes? Jacobs even said as much in interviews that's how he sees the character…It's all about HIM. He's the one who gets the nice clothes that can code switch with his workers and investors."

Still, skepticism dominated the thread. One viewer questioned the broader industry trend, commenting: "Why do shows dress the actors in expensive clothing when trying to portray ‘everyday' wear, ‘work' wear, ‘normal' wear? They could have dressed this actor in a flannel from Target but instead chose a $7k designer brand."

Another comment detailed the extent of Nate's apparent head-to-toe designer look, writing: "Not just the shirt. His scene opens with him dropping a Bottega bag on the floor and a closeup of his ‘work boots,' also Bottega. The jeans look like Bottega too. Shirt $7k, Bag $6.7k, Jeans $1.2k, Boots $1.7k."
