These four Whatcom County restaurants opened in April, as two others closed

Looking for a new restaurant to try out? Whatcom County had four new restaurants open throughout April, as two closed.

Whatcom’s newest restaurants:

SOHO Asian Kitchen & Bar

SOHO Asian Kitchen & Bar, an Asian inspired restaurant in downtown Bellingham, opened April 1. The restaurant’s menu includes dim sum, pad Thai, kimchi soup, spring rolls, bao and other Asian dishes. SOHO is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at 202 W Holly St., Suite 101 in downtown Bellingham, the previous location of K-Pop Chicken and Beer.

Hi Tide Coffee

Hi Tide Coffee, a drive-through coffee and beverage trailer, opened in Bellingham on April 7.

The unique coffee drive-through serves espresso drinks, matcha, dirty sodas, Redbull refreshers and more. The new shop is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 5309 Guide Meridian St in Bellingham.

Tam Tam Pizza

Tam Tam Pizza, a pizza food truck, opened a brick and mortar location on April 17 inside Fairhaven’s iconic red double-decker bus. The pizza bus serves handmade pizzas with a variety of toppings.

Tam Tam Pizza is open from 4-8 p.m. Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1020 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.

Tacos y birria el botas

Tacos y birria el botas, a family-owned Mexican restaurant, has opened in Bellingham. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at 784 Kentucky St., the previous location of COF& coffee shop in the Sunnyland neighborhood.

Two Whatcom County restaurants closed in April:

Evolve Chocolate + Cafe

Evolve Chocolate + Cafe, a coffee shop and cafe located on the third floor of Village Books, closed permanently April 30.

“We want to take a moment to thank our staff and the owners of Village Books for the last seven years. They have shared in some of our highest highs and some of our lowest lows,” a social media post stated.

The cafe’s owners, Christy and Shannon Fox, launched the business in 2011 and moved into Village Books in 2018. Christy and Shannon now plan to move to Sebastopol, California to be closer to family.

Evolve was located at 1200 11th St., Suite 201 in Bellingham.

GOAT Sandwiches

GOAT Sandwiches, a sandwich shop in Blaine, closed permanently April 19.

The restaurant was at 4580 Legion Dr. in Blaine.
