Waterfront chili dogs and more return to Bellingham with summer pop-up restaurant
Bellingham’s waterfront pop-up restaurant has returned for its second year, and is ready to serve up some Chicago-style hot dogs.
Yacht Dogs, a hot dog stand outside of Bellingham’s Granary Building, was started last summer by Carly James, co-owner of Bison Bookbinding & Letterpress, who owns the stationery shop along with her husband, Kevin Nelson.
This year, the popular hot dog stand has a new menu, expanding beyond just hot dogs.
“We have our signature Chicago-style hot dogs made with local, natural, grass-fed beef franks and small-batch organic toppings and condiments. This year, we’ve added a chili dog, freshly made potato salad and soup, a rotating selection of desserts, and iced coffee and chai. As always, our menu includes vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options,” James told The Bellingham Herald.
Hot dog toppings include sweet relish, sweet onion, shredded cheese, peppers, mustard, pickles, ketchup and housemade three-bean chili.
“I thought a hot dog stand would be a great way to activate the space, engage park- and beach-goers, and bring a fun food option to The Granary,” James told The Herald in an interview last year.
The hot dog stand is located on the covered patio outside of Bison Bookbinding & Letterpress at 1207 Granary Avenue, Suite 160.
Yacht Dogs is open now from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, rain or shine. The stand’s owners plan to expand hours in the summer.
