‘WA’s first Mexican and gay-owned brewery’ in Bellingham, now expanding to Seattle

One of Bellingham’s newest breweries is now expanding, bringing its beer and tamales from Whatcom County to Seattle.

El Sueñito Brewing Company, “Washington’s first Mexican and gay-owned brewery,” according to its Facebook page, first opened in Bellingham in February 2023.

The Bellingham brewery and its parent company, Frelard Tamales, opened a new brewery and restaurant on Friday, August 9 in Seattle’s Fremont/Frelard neighborhood.

“You are invited to check out the Frelard Tamales x El Sueñito Brewing kitchen & taproom experience. Bring your friends and come be gay & merry with good tamales, tacos, beer, cocktails and drinks for everyone including NA drink options like our rotating agua frescas,” a news release from the company stated.

The new taproom and restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and is open for all ages at 106 N 36th Street, Suite 102.

The new location will operate as a table service restaurant, where guests will be seated and can use a flag system to let bartenders know when they are ready for service. To-go, takeout and online ordering will also be available.

“We are excited to welcome you to our new spot in the Fremont/Frelard! We have been working on this project for close to two years and we are so excited to see happy faces hanging out here,” the news release states.

El Sueñito Brewing Company’s Bellingham location is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 1926 Humboldt St. and is open for all ages.
