Bellingham’s landmark Irish pub plans to reopen, teases new bar space
Pour yourself a Guinness and get ready for the good news: Bellingham’s landmark Irish pub may be returning.
Uisce Irish Pub, an Irish bar that closed after losing its lease in 2022, has filed a permit with the city of Bellingham for a restaurant at 1409 Cornwall Ave. The permit application was filed Nov. 22 and had not been approved as of Nov. 30.
The iconic bar closed the doors of its previous location at 1319 Commercial St. on Aug. 31, 2022, after 17 years of business, according to previous reporting by The Bellingham Herald, but promised readers it was not the end of its bar.
“We will stay in Bellingham, in the community that we love and have worked in for so long. We know that wherever we land — hopefully VERY SOON — we will bring the strongest version of Uisce yet. Over almost two decades we have earned the respect of fellow colleagues and have embraced the service industry in Bellingham, whom we love and are very connected to,” owner Molly McGarry wrote in a Facebook post on July 16, 2022.
Uisce’s reopening has also been teased on the bar’s Facebook page, showing a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the new space.
No opening date has been announced.
