Whatcom Roundup: new chain restaurant and boba tea shop planned; local eatery closing
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:
ShareTea plans Bellingham location
ShareTea, a chain bubble tea restaurant may be coming to Bellingham, as the company filed a permit for a new restaurant with an estimated value of $90,000 at 322 36th St., near REI and Insomnia Cookies. The permit was filed Nov. 22 and had not been approved as of Nov. 30.
Chipotle makes progress on new location
Chipotle has filed another permit with the city for a sign at 104 Sammish Way. This permit follows one filed on Sept. 13 for the new restaurant at a previous Pizza Hut location. The permit for the new sign had not been approved as of Nov. 30.
Mykonos Greek restaurant closing permanently
Mykonos Restaurant and Lounge, a Greek restaurant in Bellingham announced on Tuesday that it would be closing permanently on Dec. 31.
The restaurant said they were closing due to unforeseen circumstances, but will continue to serve its food throughout the rest of the year for those wanting to make one more visit, according to previous reporting by The Bellingham Herald.
Mykonos Restaurant and Lounge is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at 1650 W Bakerview Rd.
