Downtown Bellingham restaurant announces it’s closing, following others
Another downtown Bellingham business has announced it’s closing, , following other Whatcom County favorites such as JoJo’s Doughnuts, Darach Brewing Company, Heliotrope and Cosmos Bistro that closed just this year.
The Fat Beet, a vegan, 100% plant-based restaurant, announced the news on Facebook post on Monday, Nov. 7.
The restaurant will close its doors Sunday, Nov. 12, after serving up one final weekend of food and free treats.
“While we love our little restaurant and our customers, the health of our family members is paramount. With continued health challenges, we find ourselves unable to adequately staff to serve our customers,” the Facebook post states.
The Fat Beet first opened its doors in April, after Talia Sorinsin-Allen and Melissa Sorinsin, a mother-daughter team, took over the previous spot of Quantum Leaf, a vegan and gluten-free restaurant.
The new restaurant kept some menu items from Quantum Leaf, but expanded the menu and made the space its own.
Now after just seven months in business, the beloved restaurant will close its doors.
The Fat Beet will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, for its final day at 1149 North State St. in Bellingham.
