New restaurant opening in Bellingham on Friday, expanding from British Columbia
Natalino’s Pizza, a restaurant based in British Columbia, is crossing the border, bringing authentic Roman-style pizza to Bellingham’s Bellis Fair Mall. Opening day is Friday, June 16.
Natanael Gamarrota, or Natalino, is a “contemporary master pizza chef” from Rome who started the pizza restaurant with his wife in 2020 in Surrey.
“Bellingham has always been in our mind. We have customers that drive from here and from Blaine just to eat our pizza, so we had to come visit. We instantly connected with the city. It’s such a beautiful place and the people are so friendly,” Gamarrota wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.
“During one of those many visits we stopped at the Bellis Fair Mall food court and saw an empty space that used to be a beautiful pizza shop. We had a talk with David Prince, assistant property manager at the mall. He shared with us his desire to include family owned businesses like ours at the mall, his friendly attitude and his willingness to work with us convinced us that this was the right place for our second location,” Gamarrota wrote.
The restaurant uses pizza dough that is naturally matured for 48 to 72 hours, promising it to be delicious, low in fat, easily digestible, soft and crispy. The pizzas are also made with extra virgin olive oil and authentic Italian products.
“The pizza craftsmen of Rome have pioneered a novel pizza-making technique that ensures the dough contains a higher water content. This innovative approach allows the pizza to remain fresh and moist when displayed, and it can be swiftly reheated on demand, delivering a prompt and crispy pizza experience to our valued customers,” Gamarrota wrote.
The restaurant serves a variety of pizzas with toppings such as truffle sauce, Italian sausage, pork belly, peppers, olives and cheeses. The menu also includes calzones, focaccia bread, salads, panna cotta, and a dessert pizza topped with Nutella.
Natalino’s Pizza is located inside Bellis Fair Mall at the food court and will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Bellis Fair Mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham.
