Want a drink? These Whatcom County dive bars were rated among the top 50 in the state
Three dive bars in Whatcom County were rated as some of the best in Washington state by a recent Yelp article.
An August 2022 Yelp article named the top 50 dive bars in Washington state, which included one Blaine bar and two Bellingham bars.
The Beach Bar at Birch Bay
The Beach Bar at Birch Bay in Blaine is rated as the eighth-best dive bar in Washington state. Along with serving drinks, the dive bar also serves a full menu of appetizers, burgers, fish and chicken. The menu features dishes such as clam chowder, calamari, mac and cheese, burgers, cod sandwiches and salads.
The bar has also received good Yelp reviews from visitors, earning a 4-star rating from 127 reviews.
The bar is currently under construction until March 31 according to its website, but is usually open from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 1-9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is at 7876 Birch Bay Drive in Blaine.
Beaver Inn
Beaver Inn in Bellingham is rated as the 34th-best dive bar in Washington. The bar is known for its drinks and classic bar food and has received a 3.5-star rating from 27 Yelp reviews.
Beaver Inn is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and midnight to 2 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and is at 115 E. Holly St.
Cap Hansen’s Tavern
Cap Hansen’s Tavern in Bellingham is rated as the 40th-best drive bar in Washington. The bar is praised for its affordable beer, karaoke and signature drinks in its Yelp reviews, along with a 3.5-star Yelp rating.
Cap Hansen is open from noon to 2 a.m. daily and is at 209 E. Chestnut St. in Bellingham.
