We asked readers where to find the best pancakes in Whatcom County and the votes are in.
The poll had 11 local restaurant options in Whatcom County including Skylark’s Cafe, The Harris Avenue Cafe, Arlis’s Restaurant and Old Town Cafe.
The unscientific poll received a total of 175 votes.
The best pancakes in Whatcom County
The Birch Door Cafe received 82 votes to top the list of the best pancakes in Whatcom County.
The Birch Door Cafe serves breakfast all day and lunch after 11 a.m. on weekdays and features menu items including French toast, sandwiches, burgers, biscuits and country gravy, French-baked omelets and breakfast platters.
The restaurant also has unique pancakes, such as bacon, blueberry, apples and cinnamon, roasted pecan and chocolate chip.
The Birch Door Cafe is also well-loved online, receiving a 4.5-star rating from 807 Yelp reviews.
The Birch Door Cafe also won a reader poll and was named the best brunch in Whatcom County.
The Birch Door Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and is in Bellingham at 4192 Meridian St.
Following The Birch Door Cafe with 24 votes was Old Town Cafe.
The cafe serves breakfast all day and lunch starting at 11 a.m. and serves traditional, gluten-free and whole-grain pancakes. Customers can also add blueberries and bananas to their pancakes.
Old Town Cafe has also received high reviews online from visitors, with a 4-star rating from 325 Yelp reviews.
Old Town Cafe also came in second place behind The Birch Door Cafe in The Herald’s previous reader poll to find the best brunch in Whatcom County.
Old Town Cafe is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, and is in Bellingham at 316 W. Holly St.
In third place was Cedars Restaurant and Lounge with 20 votes, followed by Rusty Wagon with 11 votes and Rustler’s Front Street Grill with nine votes.
