We asked readers where to find the best locally-made BBQ in Whatcom County and the votes are in.
The poll had seven local restaurant options in Whatcom County including Burnt Ends BBQ, JT’s Smokin’ BBQ, Carnal and Jack’s BBQ. The unscientific poll received a total of 164 votes.
The best BBQ in Whatcom County
Big Stick BBQ was voted as making the best BBQ in Whatcom County with 60 votes.
Big Stick BBQ is a family-owned business started by Rick Atkins and serves brisket, mac and cheese, pulled pork, ribs and burgers.
The restaurant serves dishes such as a brisket slab burger, a Texas Reuben sandwich, biscuits and gravy and dirty mac and cheese served with pork, brisket or pork belly burnt ends.
The local restaurant is also popular online, receiving a 4.5-star rating from 54 Yelp reviews.
Big Stick BBQ is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 pm. on Friday and Saturday, and can be found in Bellingham at 709 West Orchard Drive.
Following Big Stick BBQ with 32 votes was Jack’s BBQ.
Jack’s BBQ has multiple locations across Washington state including Bellingham.
The restaurant serves dishes such as chili, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, ribs, chicken and prime rib.
The restaurant is well-loved and has received a 4.5-star rating from 48 reviews on Yelp.
Jack’s BBQ is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and is located at 1327 N. State St.
Burnt Ends BBQ came in third place with 26 votes, followed by JT’s Smokin’ BBQ and Jake’s BBQ and Catering with 14 votes.
