A downtown Bellingham restaurant has decided to permanently close.

Muto Izakaya announced on social media that the restaurant on East Chestnut Street would not reopen. The restaurant closed in August. At the time, the restaurant closed for some remodeling work.

In the post, the owners thanked customers for their support and urged them to visit the company’s restaurants in Lynnwood and Seattle.

The Japanese restaurant, which opened in July 2017 near the Cornwall Avenue intersection, focused on ramen and sushi rolls.

The closure of Muto Izakaya is among several announced closures of restaurants and food trucks in recent weeks. Snowy River Cocktail and the Carve Casual food truck closed on Sept. 10, while the Rustic Fork in Blaine announced it closed but could reopen under a different format.
