Hungry? Here are seven restaurants you won’t want to miss on your drive up Mount Baker

Whether you are heading up to Mount Baker for an afternoon of hiking or traveling back down the mountain after a long day of skiing, finding a good restaurant on the way could make your day trip even better.

Along the Mount Baker Highway visitors can find various restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops for whatever you are craving on your drive.

The Bellingham Herald has put together a simple list for your travels of seven restaurants along your drive to or from Mount Baker:

Chair 9 Woodstone Pizza & Bar

Chair 9 Woodstone Pizza & Bar is located in Glacier and offers visitors burgers, salads, sandwiches, salmon and pizza.

For pizza lovers, the “Mt. Baker Pizza” is layered with red sauce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, ground beef and sausage. Visitors can also enjoy chicken wings, a black Angus burger with lettuce, onion, tomato and caramelized onion aioli, crab cakes or a half rack of baby back ribs.

Chair 9 Woodstone Pizza & Bar is open noon-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Sunday at 10459 Mount Baker Highway.

Wake ‘n’ Bakery

Wake ‘n’ Bakery serves coffee, baked goods, alcoholic beverages and sandwiches to “fuel your adventures” at Mount Baker.

The bakery serves muffins, scones, turnovers, pie, savory pastries, cookies and dessert bars for those with a sweet tooth. For those needing a quick meal, breakfast burritos, quiches, paninis, soups and Thai peanut wraps are also available.

For those looking for a beer, it’s $4. You can also build-your-own six pack for $18, or indulge in a mimosa for $7.

Wake ‘n’ Bakery is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily at 6903 Bourne St., Deming.

Joe’s Fine Coffee

For those needing some caffeine on their drive, Joe’s Fine Coffee is a great place to pull over. The coffee shop serves classic espresso, as well as unique creations and food.

Whether you’re craving a white peach mocha, coconut caramel latte, raspberry matcha or a classic chai tea, Joe’s has it all.

If you’re needing a bite to eat, Joe’s also serves breakfast burritos, salads, granola, paninis and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Joe’s Fine Coffee is open 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at 7463 Mount Baker Highway, Suite A, Maple Falls.

Rifugio’s Country Italian Cuisine

Rifugio’s Country Italian Cuisine brings a local twist to come classic Italian dishes for those craving something unique during their trip.

From fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna Bolognese or filet mignon, this restaurant will fill you up after a long day of activity. If you have a sweet tooth, Rifugio’s double chocolate tiramisu with a balsamic vinegar sauce gives a new twist on a classic Italian dessert.

Rifugio’s Country Italian Cuisine is open 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at 5415 Mount Baker Highway, Deming.

Grant’s Burgers

Grant’s Burgers is a fast and affordable choice for those traveling who may want to eat in the car, but still have a delicious meal.

Grant’s Burgers’ menu features hamburgers for $3.49, corn dogs for $2.99, hand-dipped hard ice cream shakes for $5.49 as well as onion rings, fries and more burger choices.

The “Grant’s Famous, Notorious, Ginormous, ‘Big Bun’ Burger” is known for its massive size that some try to conquer, but usually end up sharing. The half-pound burger comes fully loaded with toppings for $10.49.

Grant’s Burgers has four locations in Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden and Deming. For those on their route to Mount Baker, the Deming restaurant is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday at 4965 Mount Baker Highway.

Rome Grocery

Rome Grocery is a quick stop where travelers can enjoy sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and salads as well as pick up groceries, a scoop of ice cream or espresso.

The kitchen serves pints of rotating beer, biscuits and gravy, tacos, and the “When in Rome” burger topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, honey grain mustard and garlic aioli.

The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Rome Grocery store is open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at 2908 Mount Baker Highway.

The North Fork Brewery

The North Fork Brewery serves hot pizza and cold beer from 20 taps full of their home-brewed beers.

Visitors can enjoy a beer cheese dip, stout French onion soup, lasagna, smoked salmon salad and calzones in addition to many pizza varieties.

“The Monster Pizza” is topped with marinara, mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapeno, anchovy, black olive, pineapple, Gorgonzola and Parmesan. The restaurant also serves classic cheese, pepperoni, supreme, veggie and Greek pizzas.

If you and your family can’t choose toppings, the restaurant also allows you to split the pizza and choose toppings for each half of the pie.

The North Fork Brewery is open 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon-9 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at 6186 Mount Baker Highway, Deming.
