With Kebab Casual gone, here’s where to get your fill of Middle Eastern food in Bellingham
As Bellingham’s well-loved Mediterranean restaurant, Kebab Casual announced its closing on Facebook, falafel will now have to be found in other local spots.
The Bellingham Herald has located a few local restaurants that also serve Mediterranean delicacies to fill the hole Kebab Casual has left.
Falafel Truck
Falafel Truck is a local food truck that serves authentic Mediterranean food in Bellingham. Its menu features falafel, pita wraps and shawarma.
The truck is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and is located at 4370 Meridian St.
Mediterranean Specialties
Mediterranean Specialties is a family-owned grocery store, cafe and deli that serves homemade Mediterranean foods. Its menu includes homemade falafel, shawarma sandwiches, beef or chicken gyros and hummus or baba ghanouj.
Mediterranean Specialties is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and is located at 505 32nd St., Suite 108 in Bellingham.
Pita Pit
Pita Pit is a chain restaurant that offers build-your-own pita wraps, rice and quinoa bowls. Its menu includes a Thai Buddha bowl, falafel pita wraps and gyro pita wraps.
Pita Pit is open from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, and noon to 2 a.m. on Saturday. Pita Pit is located in Bellingham at 201 E. Holly St.
Cafe Akroteri
Cafe Akroteri is a traditional Greek restaurant in downtown Bellingham that has been open since 1986. Its menu features a falafel gyro, lamb chops, Greek ribs and spanakopita.
Cafe Akroteri is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is located at 1219 Cornwall Ave.
The Little Oasis Kabob House
The Little Oasis Kabob House is located in Bellingham and has a menu full of falafel, lamb, chicken and beef dishes. Its menu is a build-your-own style that allows customers to choose proteins and veggies in a pita wrap, plate or specialty fries.
The Little Oasis Kabob House is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is located at 4260 Cordata Parkway, Suite 108.
Mykonos
Mykonos is a family-owned restaurant started by a family member who came to America from Tripoli when he was 19 and began working in the food industry and eventually owned his own restaurant that his surviving family has continued.
Its menu features traditional Greek dishes such as falafel gyro, arni psito, burgers and seafood. Mykonos is open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays and is located in Bellingham at 1650 W. Bakerview Road.
