We asked you what Bellingham cidery had the best hard cider, and the votes are in.
Bellingham is known for having great breweries and homemade hard cider, but where can you get the best?
The poll had four options: Honey Moon Alley Bar & Ciderhouse, Herb’s Cider, Bellingham Cider Company and Lost Giants Cider Company, and 2,913 people voted in the poll.
Bellingham’s favorite hard cider
Winning with 1,719 votes was Bellingham Cider Company.
Bellingham Cider Company has eight ciders currently on tap, featuring flavors such as pina colada, Rainier cherry, blackberry ginger and blueberry lemonade.
The restaurant also has beer, wine and cocktails as well as a full menu and happy hour deals. The menu features a buttermilk-brined chicken and brown sugar waffle, grilled pork tenderloin, fried oysters and a grass-fed burger. There’s a kids’ menu, as well as a brunch menu for Saturdays and Sundays.
For dessert, Bellingham Cider Company has a dark chocolate olive oil cake and fried apple pie.
Bellingham Cider Company is located at 205 Prospect St. and overlooks Maritime Heritage Park and the Whatcom Creek Waterway. The restaurant is open 3-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3-9:30 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-9:30 Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays for brunch. Happy hour is available 3-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays.
The other options
Lost Giants Cider Company came in second place behind Bellingham Cider Company with 1,331 votes, followed by Herb’s Cider with 42 votes, and Honey Moon Alley Bar & Ciderhouse with 22 votes.
Lost Giants Cider Company currently has eight ciders in its lineup with flavors such as elderberry, plum, grapefruit hibiscus and rosé.
Lost Giants also has a cider infusion program that tests out new cider flavors by adding seasonal fruits and vegetables with sweeter or dryer ciders. The restaurant made its own custom-made infuser, fills it with fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, and attaches it to a keg of cider to mix the new creation together and have it on tap.
Each week it releases a new infused cider, with past infusions featuring flavors such as watermelon jalapeno, coffee bean, lemon and basil, gin botanical and an Earl Grey tea and lemon flavor.
Lost Giants Cider Company is located at 1200 Meador Ave. and updates its hours regularly on its Facebook page, but is typically open 4-8 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 3-9 p.m. Fridays, 2-9 p.m., Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays.
Herb’s Cider’s brick-and-mortar location has been closed, but cider can still be purchased online through its Facebook page until sold out. This well-loved cider spot had flavors such as lemon-lime, pineapple margarita and black currant.
Honey Moon Alley Bar & Ciderhouse, also known as Honey Moon Mead & Cider, has six different ciders with flavors such as raspberry, rhubarb, cranberry and blueberry.
“We make all of our ciders using only fresh fruit. We do not add sugar. We do not use concentrate. Just real craft cider made from fresh apples. Naturally gluten free,” its website states.
Honey Moon’s mead, or in simple terms wine made from honey, is made with locally sourced water, honey and yeast. Mead comes in six flavors such as wassail, orange and raspberry.
Honey Moon Alley Bar & Ciderhouse is located at 1053 N. State St. Alley and is open 5 p.m.-midnight Wednesdays-Saturdays.
