Iconic rock trio added to concert lineup at the Northwest Washington Fair this summer
The Northwest Washington Fair will return to Lynden this summer with another year of grandstand entertainment and concerts.
This year’s fair will run from Aug. 7-16 at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds and will feature live concerts by American country singer Jake Owen and Chandler Moore, a Grammy-winning Christian music singer and part of Maverick City Music, a Christian music group.
Now the NW WA Fair has announced another Grandstand Entertainment concert coming this summer: ZZ Top.
ZZ Top, a “legendary rock band” that formed in 1969, will perform at the fair at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, according to a news release from the Northwest Washington Fair.
The band features Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard and new bassist Elwood Francis, who joined the band in 2021 after longtime member Dusty Hill passed away.
“Their third album, 1973’s Tres Hombres, catapulted them to national attention with the hit ‘La Grange,’ still one of the band’s signature pieces today,” the news release states. Eliminator, their 1983 album, was something of a paradigm shift for ZZ Top. Their roots blues skew was intact but added to the mix were tech-age trappings that soon found a visual outlet with such tracks as ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ and ‘Legs’ on the then up-and-coming MTV.”
“It was one of the music industry’s first albums to have been certified Diamond, far beyond Gold and Platinum, and a reflection of US domestic sales exceeding 10 million units,” the news release states.
Concert tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 for the fair’s email list subscribers, and Friday, March 28 for the general public.
Tickets cost $50 for grandstand reserved seats, $65 for grandstand preferred and $75 for preferred chairs. Ticket prices do not include fair admission.
Tickets are available online by calling 360-354-4111 or at the fair office at 1775 Front St. in Lynden.
