Bellingham’s September events: festivals, skating, trivia, live music and more local fun
September and the start of the school year are already here as summer starts to end, but if you’re looking for fun local events you won’t want to miss, we’ve got you covered. Here is a monthly roundup of Bellingham events, trivia nights and live music this month:
Bellingham events
▪ The Bellingham Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at 1100 Railroad Ave.
▪ The Bellingham Greek Festival will run from Thursday, Sept. 7 through Sept. 10 and will feature a beer garden, live music, dance performances and authentic Greek delicacies. The festival is free to attend and will take place rain or shine at the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church at 510 East Sunset Dr. in Bellingham.
▪ The Millionth Pound Party at Kulshan Brewing Trackside is a free community celebration of 1 million pounds of food recovered by the Food Recovery Program through Sustainable Connections. The party will run from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 at 298 W Laurel St., and will include live music and raffles.
▪ Open roller skate at the Depot Market Square will run from 6-8 p.m. on Sept. 15. The free event only requires you to bring your own skates! The Depot Market Square is at 1100 Railroad Ave.
▪ Vaudevillingham, The Bellingham Circus Guild’s monthly community circus variety show will have two shows on Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are by donation only. The shows are at The Bellingham Circus Guild at 1401 6th St., #102.
▪ The Bellingham Veg Fest, a family-friendly vegan festival is on Sept. 17. The festival includes food, arts, crafts and activities that are all 100% vegan. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barkley Village Green at 2219 Rimland Drive.
▪ The Bellingham Celtic Festival runs from Sept. 21-24 in downtown Bellingham, “celebrating Celtic music and culture through concerts, sessions, workshops, tea, and more,” according to the event’s website. Tickets for concerts and workshops are available online and start at $20 per person.
▪ The Whatcom County Out of the Darkness Walk, a benefit event for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 23. Donations and registrations can be completed online. The event will include a mental health and awareness fair and will take place at Bellingham High School at 2020 Cornwall Ave.

Live music in Bellingham
▪ The Aslan Brewing Co. depot welcomes local artists throughout the month of September, including holding jazz nights on Tuesdays. For the music line up, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. is at 1322 N. State St.
▪ Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music throughout the month of September. For the music line up and locations, check the schedule online.
▪ Boundary Bay Brewery will have live music almost every night during the month of September, from jazz groups to live DJs and classic blues bands. Boundary Bay Brewery is at 1107 Railroad Ave.
▪ The Blue Room, a live music and event venue regularly hosts live performers, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.
▪ Bar Cicotti, a coffee and wine bar will host jazz nights from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays through September. Bar Cicotti is at 202 Grand Ave.
