Famous magicians, comedians and musical acts coming to Bellingham’s famed theatre

Bellingham’s beloved Mount Baker Theatre has opened ticket sales for a variety of high-profile shows and entertainment, including the Penn & Teller magic duo, Dinosaur World Live, comedian Tig Notaro, ukelele musician Jake Shimabukuro and improv performers Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

Since the historic Mount Baker Theatre was built in 1927 with its iconic 15-story tower, the theatre has provided entertainment in many forms, from movie showings, book readings, concerts, theater, the “The Price Is Right” and more.

“MBT’s mission is to serve the community, and we do this by creating a season that reflects the importance of making theatre accessible for all. We have a plethora of world-class entertainment including Broadway national tours, family-friendly shows, headlining comedians and magicians, and live performances from some of the biggest names in music. We listen to our audiences and work hard to bring entertainment that is representative of our diverse region,” Meghan Hurley, marketing director at Mount Baker Theatre wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

Now the theatre is welcoming a new lineup of entertainment and will start online ticket sales at 10 a.m. Wednesday for these shows:

Comedian Tig Notaro: Hello Again Tour! at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Jake Shimabukuro: Christmas in Hawai‘i at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 16.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” Live in Concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 18.

Potted Potter - The Unauthorized Harry Experience at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Dinosaur World Live at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

Magicians Penn & Teller at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.

Improv comedians Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood: Scared Scriptless Tour at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

“We are thrilled to bring in these incredible shows for our community. Each show transforms our stage, every audience transforms our auditorium, and together we create a unique, memorable, and transformative experience,” Hurley wrote.

Mount Baker Theatre is at 104 North Commercial St. in Bellingham, and its box office is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased in person, online or by calling 360-734-6080.

“Ticket sales play a huge role in our organization’s preservation of this beautiful, historic theatre. The building has been a fixture in Bellingham and our region for 96 years, and part of our mission is to keep quality entertainment alive in this venue for decades to come,” Hurley wrote.
