Sluys wins gold at world championships

Bellingham’s Daphne Sluys, who recenty won 3 U.S. Masters National titles, has won a gold medal in the 400-meter at the World Masters Track and Field Championships on Saturday, Aug. 15, in Lyon, France.

Sluys finished with a time of 67.32 seconds to win the women’s 55-59 age group. She also added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter and a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter.
