Squalicum soccer player selected WIAA Athlete of the Week

Squalicum junior Tyler Hughes has been selected an Athlete of the Week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association for last week, according to a press release on Thursday, March 24.

Hughes scored two goals in the Storm’s 5-1 non-league win over Sedro-Woolley on Saturday, March 19, and assisted on a third on a corner kick in the 13th minute.

“Tyler played with a lot of energy,” Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said after the game.

Hughes is the second Squalicum student-athlete to win the award this school year, joining Kim Dorr after she helped the Storm girls’ soccer team to a Class 2A state title in November.
