LC’s Bajema, Tjoelker honored at state volleyball tournament

After helping the Lynden Christian volleyball team to a repeat Class 1A state title last weekend, Kara Bajema was selected Most Valuable Player of the Tournament by the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association and Carli Tjoelker was selected to the All-Tournament team. The Lyncs’ Kim Grycel was chosen Coach of the Year.

Bajema recorded 118 kills, 33 digs and eight aces in the four matches in Yakima, while Tjoelker logged five aces, 20 digs, 167 assists and eight blocks.

Also selected to the all-tournament team were Kalama’s Averi Dyer and Olivia Conradi, Cascade’s Makena Alaillma-Daley and Becca Munoz, Cedar Park Christian’s Sam Drechel and Rachel Kumai, Freeman’s Alisha Straw, Naches Valley’s Makala Swart and King’s Daylee Hanson.
