Truck accident closes Slater Road bridge over Nooksack River indefinitely
Damage from a truck accident has closed the Slater Road bridge over the Nooksack River west of Interstate 5 indefinitely, according to Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo.
A tractor-trailer hauling an oversized excavator struck and damaged the structural integrity of the bridge about 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Elfo said.
Engineers have been called to inspect the damage to the bridge.
Motorists will need to take detours that have been put in place, a county press release said.
