Sounders, Rapids complete Pappa deal

Seattle Sounders FC traded midfielder Marco Pappa to the Colorado Rapids for allocation money.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because the deal was widely reported last week before becoming official Tuesday. No additional terms were announced.

“It’s tough to let a good, creative, technical player like Marco go,” Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey said in a release. “But we felt compelled to complete this agreement in order to create the resources to build our team for the long term.”

Pappa, 28, scored nine goals with 11 assists in 49 MLS regular season appearances with Sounders FC after joining the club in 2014.

He also has 11 goals in 49 career appearances for the Guatemalan national team.
