The annual Deming Log Show is back this weekend at the Deming Log Show Grounds.

The event was created in 1962 by Finley Hays to raise money for an injured logger named Van Brocklin. To this day, the proceeds of the event are donated to individuals in need of assistance, according to the Deming Log Show website.

The log show includes 28 events, mostly for adults, but there’s also a kids’ log-rolling event and the loggers versus kids tug-o-war.

Eliminations begin at 11 a.m. Saturday only, and the main show begins at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Meals will be available at the Log Show BBQ, the Log Show Museum and other vendors located around the grounds. The American Legion has two locations at the log show and will be serving the logger’s breakfast starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and kids ages 6-12, and free for kids age 5 and younger. Parking is also free, and there is a wagon to transport people to the gate.

Weekend camping is also available. Check the site for details.

The Herald reached out to officers of the Deming Log Show but has yet to receive a response.
