Former Bellingham coach wins 400 hurdles gold at Americas Masters Games

Laurent Birade, a local hurdler and former coach at Bellingham High School, won gold in the 400-meter hurdles for the 45-49 age group at the Americas Masters Games on Aug. 30 in Vancouver, B.C.

He won in 61.08 seconds, 2.5 seconds ahead of Canada’s Marcus Skeet.

The Americas Masters Games started Aug. 26 and end Sept. 4.
