Bellingham golfer ties for fifth at Northwest Open Invitational
Gonzaga-bound Bellingham High graduate Nick Nolan finished tied for fifth after shooting 8-under par over three days at the Northwest Open Invitational Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 15-17, at the Wine Valley Golf Course in Walla Walla.
Nolan, who was playing out of Lake Padden Golf Course, shot rounds of 67, 72 and 69 for a three-day total of 208, nine strokes behind tournament champion Brian Thornton. Nolan was the third-highest amateur finisher.
Bellingham Golf and Country Club’s Luke Bennett finished tied for 16th after shooting 2-under 214 (69-72-73), while Semiahmoo Golf and County Club’s Jeff Coston tied for 29th at even par (75-70-71) and Western Washington University golfer Willy Scholten tied for 35th by shooting 218 (73-69-76). Semiahmoo’s Brett Eaton shot a 228 and Bellingham’s Cody Roth shot a 231.
