Bellingham’s Shenton, Sehome’s Zavisubin earn all-WCL recognition
A pair of Bellingham Bells who graduated from Whatcom County high schools earned honorable mention All-West Coast League recognition when the league announced its postseason honors on Monday, Aug. 17.
Outfielder/third baseman Austin Shenton, who graduated from Bellingham High last spring and will play for the University of Washington, was selected after hitting .280 (30 for 107) with eight runs scored and six RBIs in 31 games.
He is joined by right-handed pitcher Josh Zavisubin, who is a sophomore from the University of Puget Sound and graduated from Sehome High. Zavisubin went 4-1 with a 2.57 ERA in 35 innings of work over 20 games this summer, striking out 27 and walking 11.
The Bells also placed outfielder Shane Hanon and relief pitcher Sam Hellinger on the first team and starter Jon Olsen and reliever Jared Horn on the second team.
