Bellingham Distance Project runner Corrine Malcolm won the United States Track and Field 50 Mile Trail Championships race June, 4, in Ithaca. N.Y.
Malcolm finished first among the women competitors and took 14th overall with a time of 8 hours, 18 minutes, 28 seconds.
“Corrine Malcolm won, beating a stacked field, and in the process going from a relative unknown to a national champion and member of Team USA,” said Malcolm’s coach, David Roche. “It’s hard to describe the improbability of Corrine’s win.”
