United can’t slow down Victory in loss

Bellingham United fell 2-0 to the Vancouver Victory on Sunday, May 15, in Vancouver.

After a scoreless first half, a Victory player dribbled to 25 yards out and netted a ball into the bottom right corner in the 48th minute. United committed a foul in the box in the 68th minute which led to a penalty kick and a 2-0 lead for the Victory. Vancouver outshot United 16-12.

“Today we were outplayed by the Victory,” coach Lance Calloway said. “We battled in the first half but to be honest they were pushing hard and created several dangerous chances we managed to stop.”

Calloway said his team didn’t play quick enough to get past the Victory back line.

Bellingham United travels to Wenatchee FC Sunday, May 22 for its game at 5 p.m. at the Wenatchee Apple Bowl.
