Bellingham Bay Swim Team finishes strong at regional championships

Jaeli Tilley’s third-place finish in the girls’ 10-and-under 200 freestyle was the highlight for the Bellingham Bay Swim Team at last week’s Northwest Age Group Regional Championships at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Tilley, who swam a time of 2 minutes, 17.74 seconds, also placed seventh in the 100 freestyle (1:03.72).

In the boys’ 10-and-under division, Miles Cratsenberg placed eighth in the 50 freestyle (28.55 seconds), while Nathan Cratsenberg took fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:06.73), seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:36.14) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (58.42) in the boys’ 11-year-old division. Nathan Chen claimed fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:12.19) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.45) in the boys’ 12-year-old division, while Rudolph Berry placed fifth in the 1,650 freestyle (17:38.26) and eighth in the 500 freestyle (4:59.41) in the boys’ 15-18 division.

In the girls’ 11-year-old division, Ana Zurcher placed fifth in the 50 breaststroke (34.48), Florence Lo took sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.60) and seventh in the 50 breaststroke (35.25), and Emma Balogh took seventh in the 50 backstroke (31.46). In the girls’ 12-year-old division, Teigen Detta claimed fifth in the 100 freestyle (55.82), seventh in the 200 IM (2:20.06) and eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:29.90) and 400 IM (4:57.44).

The BBST girls’ 11-12 400 freestyle relay of Balogh, Zurcher, Lo and Detta placed eighth (3:57.96), while Chen, Addison Cross, Gavin Jones and Nathan Cratsenberg took eighth in the boys’ 11-12 200 freestyle relay.
