United earns 9-4 win over Force
The Bellingham United soccer team earned a 9-4 victory on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Bellingham Sportsplex over the Olympic Force, the top team in the WISL.
The United had two goals by Kurtis Peterson and Brendan Quilici each in the victory and improved to 3-1 on the season.
WRA 30th at event
The Whatcom Rowing Association was 30th overall at the Wrap up of the Holiday Challenge, an event that challenged rowing clubs to row as far they can between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Hundreds of clubs from around the world entered.
The WRA was 11th in competition with all On-the-Water institutions with 3,059,426 meters. This was generated by 15 members contributing on average of 203,961 meters. This average individual contribution is the highest figure of the top 25 OTW clubs.
Station L in Portland took first place among OTW clubs with 6,606,377 meters produced by 60 rowers contributing with an average output of 110,106 meters.
Warriors win tournament
The Whatcom Warriors of the Whatcom County Hockey Association won the Julie Paskall Memorial Hockey Tournament in Surrey, B.C., at the 9- 10-year-old level.
The Warriors won the 10-team tournament by being the only undefeated (4-0) team in the tournament, beating the Cloverdale Titans 4-3 in the semifinal and the Langley Blades 4-1 in the title match.
