Bells add assistant coach to baseball staff
Jake Whisler was hired by the Bellingham Bells as an assistant coach, the team announced Monday, Jan. 30.
Whisler has three years of experience as a player in the West Coast League, playing for the Medford Rogues and the Klamath Falls Gems.
He will join head coach Mike Gange, pitching coach and recruiting coordinator Jim Clem and assistant coach Dane Siegfried. With the recent promotion of Mike Gange to head coach, Whisler will fill the final assistant coach position on the Bellingham Bells staff.
Born and raised in Klamath Falls, Whisler advanced his career to Western Oregon where he played for five years and was named team captain his senior year. His efforts helped lead Western Oregon to five Great West Athletic Conference Titles and two NCAA Division II West regionals.
Chuckanut Bay Rugby to host meeting for potential players
Chuckanut Bay Rugby will host a youth rugby informational/sign up meeting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Ferndale WECU.
No experience is necessary with the ages ranging from Minis to high school boys and girls.

Blazers win two hockey games over weekend
The Bellingham Blazers had a 14-3 win Sunday, Nov. 29, over the Tri City Outlaws and also beat the Outlaws 5-0 on Saturday, Nov. 28.
On Sunday, Sean Meetsma had four goals and two assists and Simeon Smith had two goals.
Karson DeRego, Sam Vizenor and Meetsma paced the Blazers on Saturday with a goal and assist each on the night and defenseman Mark Klasen had three assists.
