Vizenor Leads Blazers Over Eugene
Sam Vizenor scored two goals and logged an assist and Von Mullin recorded three assists, as the Bellingham Blazers defeated the Eugene Generals 6-2 Saturday, Nov. 14, in Eugene, Ore..
The win was the fourth victory over the Generals in the four meetings this season.
Blazer goalie Broderick Parker recorded 31 saves, but he also made an impact on the attack as he scored the final goal and recorded an assist.
The Blazers opened up the scoring late in the first period as Simeon Smith scored with Mullin and Justin Sullivan assisting. The Generals quickly countered to knot the game at 1 at the end of the first period.
Vizenor, Kevin Duncan and Sullivan scored in the second period, before Vizenor scored again in the third and Park added his empty-net goal — his second of the season.
“We have to overcome some obstacles but we came out on top with perseverance” Blazers coach Mark Collins said.
The win solidifies the Blazers second place standing in the Northern Pacific Hockey League with a 11-4 record and 22 points. The Blazers will host West Sound at 7:35 pm Friday, Nov. 20 at the Sportsplex.
