Dealy to attempt swimming Bellingham Bay after delay

Sarah Dealy has rescheduled her eight-mile charity swim across Bellingham Bay for 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4.

The wind storm last Saturday created 15-foot waves in the bay, preventing Dealy from attempting her fundraising swim as she initially planned.

Donors are supporting per-mile and Dealy is raising the money for Skookum Kids, a new transitional housing program for Whatcom County foster children.

Dealy will begin from a point on Lummi Shore and end at the boardwalk by Boulevard Park around 2 p.m. if everything goes as planned.
