Bells clinch division in high-scoring affair

The Bellingham Bells secured a West Division title with an 11-8 win over Cowlitz on Thursday, Aug. 6, in Longview.

Bellingham quickly pulled to a 5-0 lead and were comfortably ahead until Cowlitz inched back after starter Andrew Summerville exited the game after six innings of two-run ball.

Cody Anderson surrendered an unearned run in the seventh before the bats of Bellingham tallied five runs in the top of the eighth. Cowlitz responded with a five-run inning of their own off reliever Hunter Haworth.

But Riley Storedahl shut the door with 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief for the save.

Seven Bells had one RBI.

With the division secured, Bellingham will close the regular season with a three-game series against Victoria, which starts on Friday, Aug. 7, at Joe Martin Field.
