Andrew Kemmerer threw seven shutout innings, Beau Branton and Chase Scott combined for four RBI and the Bellingham Bells moved to within a game of clinching the division with a 6-3 win over Cowlitz on Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Longview.
Kemmerer only struck out two on the bump, but also only allowed one hit. Nate Higa and Brian Way allowed three late runs but an early flurry by the Bells was enough.
Leading the way in the third, fourth and fifth innings were K.J. Brady, who hit an RBI triple in the third, Chase Scott, who doubled home two in the fourth, and Joey Harris, who singled in a run in the fifth on his way to a perfect 4 for 4 night.
The Bells maintained their 3 1/2-game lead over Victoria in the West Division with four games to play. Bellingham closes the series with Cowlitz on Thursday, Aug. 6, in Longview.
