BCKST shines at national championships

The Bellingham Canoe and Kayak Sprint Team paddlers put out a strong performance at the 2015 USA Sprint Canoe and Kayak National Championship Thursday, July 30-Saturday, Aug. 1, in Chula Vista, Calif, where top paddlers representing teams from across the country competed.

BCKST collected 17 medals during the three-day competition. Leading the way was Elena Wolgamot, who collected six golds. Wolgamot won the 200 and 500-meter women bantams single kayak, finishing just ahead of teammate Ana Swetish, who took silver in both events. In the 200, 500 and 3,000 two-person kayak events, Wolgamot and Swetish combined for the golds.

The duo then joined Abby Scoggins and Sierra Noskoff to win the 500 four-person event.
