The Whatcom Americans are only the second Whatcom County team to go to the World Series of Youth Baseball and they need money to get to the event in Monticello, Ark. Helping the team out with the cause is Lummi Construction Company and the Silver Reef Hotel, Casino and Spa.
Each donated $1,000 to the cause in support of the Americans, and tribal member Garret Kamkoff, who plays for the team. Both companies are additionally pledging $1,000 each as a match for any other contributions the GoFundMe campaign has in place. If successful, the campaign will raise a total of $6,000.
The funds are being raised to pay for room and board for the team and to help pay for family members who would otherwise not have the means to attend.
