The Bellingham Bells needed a win to snag a three-game series and extend their lead in the division over Victoria and they got it with a 2-0 victory over the HarbourCats on Thursday, July 23, at Joe Martin Field.
Andrew Kemmerer was the standout performer, as he went seven innings of shutout ball on the bump, striking out seven and only allowing two hits. Spencer Howard and Brian Way each pitched an inning of relief to hold onto the lead.
While the Bells offense only got one extra-base hit out of its 10 base knocks, the two runs produced was enough to pick up the win. Jesse Kuet’s single in the second inning scored Walker Olis and Chris Beall’s double in the fifth was enough to drive in Aaron Stroosma, who had stolen second just prior.
The Bells (26-13) start a three-game set at 6:35 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Medford.
