Bellingham’s Nick Nolan needed an extra hole but he still managed to move through the first round of match play at the 114th Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur on Thursday, July 11, at the Sunriver (Ore.) Resort Meadows Course.
Nolan, who entered as the 13th seed after two rounds of stroke play earlier in the week, managed to win the 19th hole in a playoff, after he and Clayton Madey of West Linn, Ore., finished tied after 18 holes in their first-round match.
Nolan moves on to the round of 32 on Friday, July 10, where he his matched with Clarkston’s Tyler Carlson.
Blaine’s Ryan Wallen, who was seeded 39th, fell to Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake, Idaho, in the first round by a 3 and 2 score.
