Bellingham’s Nick Nolan and Blaine’s Ryan Wallen were among the 64 golfers to advance through the stroke-play portion of the 114th Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship on Wednesday, July 8, at Sunriver (Ore.) Resort.
Match-play rounds were scheduled to being Thursday, July 9, and wrap up Sunday, July 12.
Nolan shot rounds of 68 and 69 for a 3-under total of 137, which was 6 strokes behind medalist Charles Kern of Mercer Island. Wallen, who will be entering his junior year playing at the University of Wyoming, was another 3 strokes back at even par after rounds of 66 and 74.
Former Lynden Christian golfer Willie Scholten did not qualify for match play, after he shot rounds of 82 and 81.
