Post 7 wins at weekend tournament

The Bellingham Legion Post 7 team dominated this weekend at the American Legion Wood Bat Classic, winning all seven games they played.

The Fourth of July Tournament lasted four days, finishing with the semi-final and championship games on Sunday, July 5.

“The key to winning this tournament was the semi-final game,” said manager Steve Slesk. “To score four in the bottom of the seventh showed a lot about our team, a lot of heart.”

The 32 teams who competed were quality team and they were excited to win, Slesk said. Post 7 is proud to have made a strong competitive showing.

In the semi-final game, the team was down eight to five in the last inning but came back for an impressive win. Noah Rawls carried the team, pitching the entire game.

The Wood Bat Classic took place at Rogers High School in Spokane. Each game had a two-hour limit and was shortened to seven innings.
