McGrath’s go-ahead homer leads Bells to win
Bellingham first baseman Patrick McGrath hit a go-ahead, two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to help the Bells earn a 4-2 West Coast League win over the Kitsap BlueJackets on Friday, June 26, at Joe Martin Field.
Bellingham’s Bronson Larsen, who went 2 for 2, tied the game at 2-all with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth, and pitcher Brian Way earned the win in relief. Bells starter Justin Calomeni lasted 6 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits.
Local product Brice Longanecker entered the ninth and earned his second save of the season.
Bellingham (12-7) faces Kitsap next during the second game of a three-game home series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, June 27.
