Kuet, Harris doubles in ninth lift Bells to win
The Bellingham Bells can thank the bottom of its order for the 4-3 win over the Walla Walla Sweets on Tuesday, June 16, at Joe Martin Stadium.
No. 7 hitter Joey Harris’ RBI double in the bottom of the ninth evened the score at 3-3 after the Sweets tagged Channing Nesbitt, who ended with the win, for a run in the top of the last frame. Then No. 8 hitter Jesse Kuet’s double drove in Harris for the win.
Nesbitt relieved starting pitcher Andrew Kemmerer, who threw 6 1/3, allowing only two runs, two walks and six hits. Nesbitt pitched the final 2 1/3, allowing only a run, two walks and no hits.
The nearly 2,000 fans at Joe Martin got the treat of a walk-off win and saw the Bells move to 7-3, which leads the West Division of the West Coast League.
