Bellingham’s Koppenberg ties for ninth at Oregon Open

Bellingham Golf and Country Club amateur Jake Koppenberg finished in a five-way tie for ninth place at the Oregon Open Invitational on Thursday, May 11, at Sunriver Resort. He was the second-highest placing amateur in the event

For his efforts, Koppenberg collected a check for $450, after he shot a three-round totla of 218 (74-72-72). He was 11 strokes behind event winner David Lebeck from Astoria Golf and Country Club, who beat Meridian Valley Country Club’s Brian Thornton by 2 strokes.

Lake Padden Golf Course’s Luke Bennett tied for 33rd with a total of 223 (76-70-77) and collected $951.67, and Matt Cowell was 1 stroke back in a tie for 37th (76-72-76) and collected $860.
