'We Did It, Baby': Hurricanes' Jordan Staal Makes Conn Smythe Trophy History, Hoists Cup

Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal is now a two-time Stanley Cup champion and a Conn Smythe Trophy winner.

Staal becomes the oldest player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy for being the most valuable player of the playoffs at 37 years and 277 days old. The previous oldest playoff MVP was Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas, who won the Conn Smythe at 37 years and 61 days old.

Historic 16-3 Carolina Hurricanes Shut Out Vegas To Win Stanley Cup

The Carolina Hurricanes are on top of the NHL for the first time in 20 years. They eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup while dropping just three games in the playoffs.

Carolina beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 on Sunday to seal the deal and become Stanley Cup champions for the second time in franchise history.
